Microscope

These images are examples of my work using microscopes with my camera. I started by looking at pre made slides and toy microscopes using a standard lens on my camera to look into the microscope then moved on to more professional high quality microscopes and started using a microscope eyepiece adapter instead of my camera lens in order to focus more on the actual subject matter and less on the tools I was using to create the images. After this I started to make my own slides using blood and experimenting with different magnifications and light sources including the built in lights of the microscope, natural light, torches and desk lamps; changing the angle and intensity of the light to create different effects in my images. Recently I have been taking images of other subjects, focusing mainly on items affecting the human body, for example by looking at insects known for carrying disease such as mosquitoes. Other subjects I have used for my images include: salt crystals as they form from salt water as the water evaporates; parasitic organisms living on leaves of trees; and man-made objects such as LCD screens and ink on paper.
