Information
I am a photographer based in Gower in South Wales. I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember and have been creating my photographic art work since 2001. I am interested in photographing various political, cultural and environmental issues. I try to take photographs that don't obviously show what they are about. I use a lot of technology to make my work for example digital cameras, scanners and printers as well as computer software and online sharing and editing tools. I push my equipment to its limits in order to use some of the effects caused by digital technology such as digital noise when using high ISOs in my work. I am interested in using digital technology to create images that look different rather than trying to emulate photographs on film. I
use adapters in order to use older lenses and lenses from different
manufacturers as well as other optical equipment such as microscopes
and telescopes in order to extend the capability of my cameras. I am a founder member of the Commensalis art group and helped to set up the ArTConneKt art group. I have helped to organise and curate exhibitions for both of these groups and have shown my own photographic art work as part of each group. As well as my fine art photography I have documented various art, music and sport events including the 2013 DO NOT GO GENTLE festival and the 2014 Art Across The City event in Swansea.
